ABOUT ME
Hamim is an Assistant Professor jointly in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering, IIT Kanpur. Hamim completed his PhD from the Dept. of Computer Science at Rice University, Houston. During his PhD, he also held a graduate trainee position in the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Department at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. After finishing his PhD, Hamim conducted postdoctoral research in the Computational Biology Department in the School of Computer Sciences, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh. There, he was a recipient of the prestigious Lane Fellowship. His research interests lie at the intersection of novel computational innovations and applications in biology and draw upon ideas from probabilistic graphical models, statistical inference, mathematical models, genomics, transcriptomics, evolution and cancer biology. His research is focused on the design of scalable computational techniques backed by probabilistic modeling and statistical inference methods for understanding the biology of cancer and furthering the knowledge about single-cell biology.
